Myofascial Release
The body’s myofascial system is an expansive network of connective tissue that anchors us to our skeleton, provides stability, and creates a genius physical superstructure for mechanical advantage. The myofascial system both creates the opportunity for our many activities and also provides compensation mechanisms for dysfunctional areas of the body and shares the burden with more functional areas. Over time, these compensatory movements and postures, if not corrected, lead to mechanical tissue breakdown and pain. Myofascial release uses the body’s own movement to release and reconstruct alignment and movement to allow the body to heal and eventually return to function.
Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy works with the fluid flow system around the brain and spinal cord. Our central nervous system is vital to our survival and function, and the body regards it as so. There is an intricate movement system that circulates the fluid around the brain and spinal cord constantly to ensure nutrient delivery and waste removal. When this system is disrupted, our nervous system lets us know through all the ways it speaks. Sympathetic nervous system hyperactivity and low vagal tone manifest in a myriad of ways in the body, including pain. As pain is our body’s last line of communication before failure, there are usually underlying aspects of stress, anxiety, depression, and other systemic communications that can be addressed with this technique as well.
Ergonomic Alignment
How your body aligns while you are performing your work can either have significant benefit to your productivity, or limit it and be detrimental to your overall health. A remote or on site assessment of your work ergonomics can free up your body to have better breathing mechanics and be better aligned. The results of improved breathing and alignment are less orthopedic strain to the body, improved focus, productivity, and overall job satisfaction in the long term. If you find yourself stuck in a loop of repeating pain, frustration, or overall dissatisfaction with your job, start with what you can change. Life is complex and money is necessary, but our suffering inside of that equation may be more negotiable than we think. I would love to see how we can work with your work environment!
Dry Needling
Dry needling uses acupuncture needles and delivers localized treatment to musculoskeletal structures in order to accelerate the healing process and decrease pain. It works very well to interrupt the pain-spasm cycle that an injured area becomes locked into. This allows for improved blood flow, an increase in healing rate, and release of the body’s natural painkillers. These effects allow natural, healthy movement to resume and integrate back into daily life.
